StarkWare announced that the Starknet v0.14.3 upgrade will go live on the mainnet today at 16:10 UTC, with an expected downtime of no more than 8 minutes.
This upgrade aims to enhance network performance, improve fee fairness, and strengthen infrastructure. Key changes include: reducing block time from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds to lower network latency; replacing the Pedersen hash algorithm with BLAKE for the OS configuration hash in Starknet’s core contracts—another milestone completed on the Quantum Era roadmap; launching a dynamic L2 gas base fee mechanism per SNIP-35, making pricing more adaptive during network congestion; and adding Keccak support for client-side proofs.StarkWare advises developers and infrastructure operators to upgrade their full nodes to the latest recommended versions (Juno 0.16.4 or Pathfinder 0.22.7). Validators running SNIP-36 proof generation services must complete their upgrades during the downtime. Applications should migrate to RPC version 0.9 or RPC 0.10.1. It is also recommended to complete node upgrades prior to the release to avoid gas estimation errors caused by updates to StorageRead and StorageWrite gas costs.[Foresight News]
