As of the end of 2024, twelve states in the United States hold a total of $330 million in Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) stock in their state pension funds or treasuries. California has the largest investment in Strategy stock, holding over $150 million from its state retirement fund. Bitcoin analyst Julian Fahrer points out that the retirement funds and treasuries of California, Florida, Wisconsin, and North Carolina have the largest exposure to Strategy. The California State Teachers' Retirement Fund holds 285,785 shares, valued at approximately $83 million, while the California Public Employees' Retirement System holds 264,713 shares, valued at about $76 million. Strategy is the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin globally, owning 478,740 Bitcoins, valued at around $46 billion. Other states holding Strategy stock include Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Texas, and Utah. Since the beginning of 2025, MSTR stock has risen by 16.5%, and it has increased by 383% since the same period in 2024.
