Tether claims that Hadron integrates all the technology and expertise accumulated over the past decade to provide asset tokenization services for institutions, fund managers, governments, and private companies. Highlights of Hadron Hadron by Tether provides users with an intuitive platform for issuing and managing the entire lifecycle of digital tokenized assets, offering modularity, security, reliability, and a seamless user experience, including the following highlights: Comprehensive Compliance Framework The RWA track has closer ties with traditional finance and therefore faces more compliance challenges than other blockchain tracks. Different regulatory requirements in various countries and regions, as well as different management methods for real-world assets, pose challenges to the global circulation of asset tokenization. Therefore, compliance is also a key focus of the Hadron platform, which provides users with a comprehensive toolkit for compliance, including KYC, anti-money laundering (AML), transaction monitoring, risk management, and secondary market ecosystem monitoring, with services covering both on-chain and centralized exchanges. The robust compliance framework helps build trust with investors and regulators, paving the way for the circulation of tokenized assets. Support for Multiple Real-World Asset Tokenization The RWA track saw a period of heat in 2023, but at that time, DeFi protocols mostly chose to tokenize U.S. Treasuries or synthesize some assets, such as Sky (formerly Maker) and Synthetix, while other types of assets saw very few leading attempts at tokenization. This was due to declining on-chain DeFi yields and the popularity of on-chain U.S. Treasuries, resulting in an uneven development of the RWA category and limited benefits for real enterprises. The asset tokenization platform Hadron launched by Tether not only supports the tokenization of ordinary assets, such as stablecoins pegged to fiat currencies or backed by commodities, stocks, bonds, and funds, but also supports the tokenization of more complex assets, such as structured products (collateralized by a basket), real estate, artworks, and loyalty points. With Tether's strong capabilities, this is expected to balance the development of the RWA track, providing some nations and enterprises with opportunities for alternative financing and traditional capital markets. Seamless Asset Tokenization Experience and Non-Custodial Assets The Hadron platform also began testing on November 14, allowing users to tokenize assets on the Hadron platform in just four steps, as follows: 1. Registration: Users need to register and complete the KYC process to create their issuer account on Hadron; 2. Asset Tokenization: After connecting a non-custodial wallet, selecting the blockchain and KYC template for the tokenized asset, and setting access rights, controls, and blockchain key management, users can create their first tokenized asset; 3. Distribution: After creation, users can invite potential clients to apply for and obtain tokenized assets. Using Hadron's KYC platform, users can utilize tools for compliance due diligence on clients; 4. Issuance or Redemption: Hadron provides secure, easy-to-use, and comprehensive tools to coordinate issuance, redemption, transfer, and other operations on the selected blockchain, without requiring users to have blockchain expertise. In addition to providing a seamless and convenient asset tokenization experience, Hadron also enables users to have complete self-custody (users always have full control and corresponding responsibility for their assets). It utilizes a very intuitive user interface to set up and configure multi-signature wallets, including hardware wallets. Previously, many RWA projects tended to favor centralized management and operations in areas such as real asset review, asset custody, and user KYC verification. While this approach may facilitate smoother operation of RWA and better compliance with regulatory requirements, excessive centralization always presents significant risks. Hadron grants users sufficient rights and freedoms in KYC, modularization, and asset custody, striking a good balance between the issuer's user experience and decentralization. Can Hadron lead RWA to Prosperity? On April 14 of this year, Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino announced on X platform that Tether's asset tokenization platform would soon open (just 7 months later), and he had already indicated the platform's keywords: completely non-custodial, multi-chain, multi-asset type, customizable. The birth of Hadron may indeed integrate all the technology and expertise accumulated by Tether over the past decade, while also opening the door for Tether's next decade. Paolo Ardoino stated at the launch of Hadron: "We believe Hadron by Tether will significantly improve the financial industry. By leveraging all of Tether's technologies (which have issued $125 billion in USDT), we will make asset tokenization simpler, safer, and more scalable. Our goal is to create new opportunities for businesses and governments, making the digital asset space more accessible and transparent." Former VanEck advisor Gabor Gurbacs posted on X platform that "by 2030, the value of tokenized assets is expected to reach about $10.90 trillion, with real estate, debt, and investment funds being the top three tokenized assets. Private equity, entertainment, collectibles, and data are other areas worth watching. Meanwhile, the Bitcoin capital market, stablecoins, and asset tokenization have the potential to lead the world after ETFs, bringing $10 trillion in inflow potential for new tools and changing the investment approach for a new generation.Alexandre Lores, an analyst at Quantum Economics, also commented: "Tether's Hadron will change the entire digital asset ecosystem—from Bitcoin to the tokenization of real-world assets. The era of large-scale RWA tokenization has arrived, which means a fairer and more equitable global economic competitive environment." According to DefiLlama, the current TVL for the RWA sector is $6.57 billion, which is over 8 times lower than the TVL of the LSD sector, valued at $55.51 billion. If the RWA sector is indeed worth trillions, there is still significant room for growth from the perspective of TVL. Tether currently holds a very important strategic position in both the blockchain and traditional finance sectors, as well as in terms of capital size. Tether's Q3 financial report shows that its net profit for the third quarter of 2024 is $2.50 billion, with an annual profit of $7.70 billion and a stablecoin circulation exceeding $120 billion. In terms of reserves, Tether ranks among the top 18 holders of U.S. Treasury securities globally, holding over $105 billion in cash and cash equivalents, with direct and indirect exposure to U.S. Treasuries reaching as high as $102.50 billion. If Tether serves as a bridge between traditional finance and the crypto world, it will have more say in this regard and truly promote the prosperity of RWA. An interesting detail is that while Tether's Hadron promotes the asset tokenization of the RWA sector, it also includes support for the Bitcoin ecosystem. The modular multichain options in Hadron include Bitcoin L2, and on November 15, Paolo Ardoino specifically posted: "Among the many blockchain support options, Hadron has integrated the Bitcoin sidechain Liquid, as we have received positive feedback from current test users (governments and institutions) regarding Liquid, especially its support for crypto trading." Although the Bitcoin sidechain Liquid may not be closely related to the current Bitcoin ecosystem, when faced with user questions on April 14 about why Tether does not support the Bitcoin ecosystem but is building tokenization technology for a "garbage chain," Paolo Ardoino replied: "Liquid and RGB will soon be supported, and the team building the tokenization platform is actually working to make it available on RGB as well."
