At the "Seminar on the Disposal of Virtual Currencies Involved in Cases" organized by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, Liu Xiaoyu, the Chairman of the Management Committee of Zhongyin Law Firm, stated that China's current "prohibitive" regulatory framework is detrimental to competing in the global Web3.0 landscape and hampers the development of the digital economy. He suggested that existing regulatory policies should be appropriately adjusted on the basis of risk prevention. Experts at the conference explored the disposal of virtual currencies from multiple dimensions, covering concepts of virtual currencies, legal attributes, the current status of legislation abroad, and practices of disposal in various regions. However, there are currently issues in China regarding the disposal of virtual currencies, including imperfect legislation and a lack of interpretative space in the law, which pose significant legal risks and practical difficulties for the disposal of virtual currencies.
