Democratic Commissioner Jaime Lizárraga of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) plans to resign on January 17, leaving only one Democratic Commissioner, Caroline Crenshaw, on the commission. Due to appointments made by Trump, there will be three vacant seats on the commission, and until new nominees are confirmed, the SEC will consist of two Republican Commissioners, Uyeda and Peirce, and one Democratic Commissioner, Crenshaw, resulting in a 2-1 Republican majority.
